The Warriors enjoyed an historic and exciting weekend when GESAC opened it's doors for a soft opening last Friday night and Saturday. With VJBL matches on Friday night and our Kids First program and third round of junior boys domestic matches,  the GESAC courts were full all day and ensured a great commencement to our GESAC adventure which was enjoyed by all. Excited parents and their kids were blown away by the new sports stadium and all it had to offer. We can't wait to start all our programs and competitions on a full scale at GESAC when it opens it's doors officially next week.

The new stars debuted at GESAC last week and it was without doubt the highlight of the weekend's domestic games with plenty of people staying around to observe these exciting young athletes in action. From this Saturday we have decided to pit the wonderful skills of the New Stars against the best of our Warriors program.

The Warriors best juniors and open age players will now take on the New Stars in a series of matches as we look to build an elite and exciting U21 competition.

All members are invited to come along and enjoy some great and exciting action each Saturday at 6:00pm at GESAC as both these young groups look to hit it out on the GESAC courts each weekend.

NEWS STARS VERSUS WARRIORS ALL STARS

7th May 2012
Junior teams had their opening round at GESAC last weekend, this Sunday it's the open age teams chance to get to play in Melbourne's newest and most exciting stadium.

Not only will our Men's competition get started we will be starting a "Scrimmage Hour" for both Men and Women interested in joining teams. This "Scrimmage Hour" will allow individuals (both men and women) to come together to play a scrimmage match.
This allows interested individuals to mix with others interested in joining/forming teams. From this teams will form to join established competitions. Cost for the scrimmage hour is $6.00 per person with no other fee. If you want to become involved either through an individual or team entry contact Warriors General Manager Bob Mann on his mobile 0468 543 173 or through
his e-mail at

REP READY PROGRAM STARTS THIS WEEK

7th May 2012
Rep tryouts can be a very daunting and overwhelming experience
. In consideration of this the Warriors have commenced it's Rep Ready program to prepare potential junior rep players to be able to attend these tryouts both relaxed and confident.

Over terms 2 and 3 we will be providing interested players and parents the opportunity to receive rep quality training and coaching. At the same time we will provide information and materials to educate parents about the commitments required to play representative basketball with the Warriors.

There will also be opportunities for Rep Ready players to be able to participate in both matches and tournaments.

For further information on this exciting program contact Warriors Head coach Bob Mann on 0468 543 173 or via his e-mail bob_mann@warriorsbasketball.org.

ALL STAR GAME HIGHLIGHT OF WEEK ONE AT GESAC

12th May 2012
Week one has been a huge success at GESAC with more kids, more players and more teams joining our competitions. The highlight without a doubt was the match between the new stars and the Warriors All Stars in the last game on Saturday. With both teams filled with young talent it was a great match from start to finish played at a frenetic pace with some great defensive highlights.

The Warriors started the match undermanned with only five players, yet were the team who started the most strongly, jumping out to a double digit lead. In the second half the New Stars got on top until both teams had to endure a tense last few minutes before finishing with a tough and tight draw.

The two teams will go at it again next weekend at 6:00pm on the Saturday . Why not come on down and see some great basketball action played by some exciting young talent.
