Our Oakleigh Warriors rep team had an outstanding weekend at the Eltham Dandenong Tournament on the weekend. Out of the five teams entered into the tournament four teams made the Grand Final of their respective tournament competitions. Out of those four Grand Finals our U16 Boys and U14(2) Boys won their Grand Finals and the U12's and U18 Boys were runners-up. It was an outstanding effort from our fledging club and teams and now established a great springboard for ALL our teams going into the final grading phase and the season proper. There were some amazing stories especially from our two Grand Final winning teams, who both had issues with playing numbers going into the tournament. The U/16's played with 6 players only for the bulk of the tournament and had to survive some drastic foul trouble to overcome amazing odds to pull of an amazing victory in the last 1.5 seconds of the match. The U14(2) Boys actually had to forfeit their first match, then managed to win their second match with only four players. After that it was easy going with five players and they didn't lose a match for the rest of the tournament. Our U12 Boys had a fantastic time as they surged into their Grand Final only to lose to a very well drilled Ringwood team. The U18 Boys won every game of their tournament except for the final. Despite this loss the boys came away playing some great basketball and with a great platform to launch into their season. An honorable mention should go to our U14(1) Boys who also had a great tournament in a tough competition. The boys competed well all weekend and with a bit more luck in a few more game would have joined the other Warrior teams in finals. For tournament pictures and full reports CLICK HERE. Finally congratulations to Sam Mason(U16 Boys) and Jake Britbart (U12 Boys) for being name MVP's in their respective Grand Finals. copyright 2009 - Mannkobe Enterpises Inc. - all rights reserved This page last modified on Wednesday, January 27th, 2010 WEBSITE DESIGNED AND MAINTAINED BY COUGARWEBS |
